AGGRESSIVE OVARIAN CANCER MUTATION IDENTIFIED

Douglas A. Levine, M.D., Tina’s Wish Researcher and Chair of the Foundation’s Scientific Advisory Committee and board member, and his colleagues, identified a genetic mutation that appears to cause small cell carcinoma of the ovary, hypercalcemic type (SCCOHT), a rare but very aggressive type of ovarian cancer found in young women. The findings were published in Nature Genetics, March 23, 2014.
